Description:Large herb; basal leaves round in cross-section, with conspicuous articulations (inflated); flowers deep purple. 
Habitat:Moist roadside ditch with Hypericum chapmanii, Ludwigia spp., Stillingia aquatica, Lachnanthes caroliniana, and Rhynchospora sp.

Description:Abundant herb to ca. 3 m tall; hundreds of individuals seen!; basal leaves round to broadly elliptic in cross-section, with articulations clearly developed (inflated); flowers purple. 
Habitat:Open wet marsh with Panicum, Hypericum, Eriocaulon, Aristida, Lachnanthes, Xyris, Sabatia, etc.
