Description:Material from large, old plant with ca. 4 ft. of frunk raising the bud ca. 3.5 ft. above the ground. 
Habitat:On a rise of land; dry, sandy-humus soil under a canopy of thick myrtle oak [Quercus myrtifolia], laurel oak [Q. laurifolia], sand live oak [Q. geminata], and Chapman's oak [Q. chapmanii]. Understory of thick saw palmetto [Serenoa repens] with scattered Osmanthus, Vaccinium arboreum, Ximenia and scrub holly [Ilex opaca var. arenicola].
