Description:Plant tufted; panicles erect, loosely diffuse. 
Habitat:Somewhat elevated place surrounded by wet savanna.

Habitat:Well drained longleaf pine [Pinus palustris] flatwoods, some associates: Quercus pumila, Q. minima, Aristida stricta [var. beyrichiana], Pteridium aquilinum var. pseudocaudatum, Eupatorium album, Ctenium aromaticum, Sereno repens, Lespedeza capitata, Ilex glabra, Helianthus heterophyllus, H. radula, Nolina aptopocarpa, Vernonia angustifolia.
