Habitat:On shelly soil of [midden]. IN association with sugarberry [Celtis laevigata], nakedwood (Myrcianthes), cedar [Juniperus virginiana], live oak, Exothea and marlberry [Ardisia escallonioides].

Description:Locally infrequent (ca. 7) armed tree to 7 m with milky sap; leaves glabrous with scalloping, the largest to 13 cm; immature fruit dries gray with black stamen branches prominent. 
Habitat:Overgrown, mesic, abandoned property, with mature trees.

Description:Small tree; ca. 20 ft. tall; two main trunks no more than 6 in. diameter; leaves shiny above and leathery; latex sticky - would not wash off with soap and water, and required lighter fluid (naphtha) to remove from one's fingers; not native.
