Description:Plant stoloniferous, rooting form the nodes, creeping over the ground; bright green in color; cauline leaves absent; leaf sheath auricled on one side; auricles membraneous, trianglular-tipped; leaf sheath cartilaginous, overwrapping leaf. Basal leaves congested, slightly distichous in very juvenile forms; 2.5-8 cm long, 3.4 mm wide; transverse venation prominent; longitudinal veins slightly raised; roots fibrous; extending deep into the soil. 
Habitat:Transition zone between prairie and cypress [Taxodium] slough; very wet; perhaps old buggy trail; soil water-logged.
