Description:Locally abundant; stems erect; leaves linear, many rather falcate, often broadly canaliculate (U-shaped/concave), proximally deflexed, margins moderately undulate/sinuate; flowers with small yellow or maroon outer petals, inner petals very small, succulent, maroon. 
Habitat:Pasture, former sandhill, under shade of pines, with Opuntia humifusa, Chapmannia floridana, Asclepias humistrata, Tragia urens, Lupinus diffusus, and Galactia.

Habitat:In association with wiregrass [Aristida stricta var. beyrichiana] and other low herbaceous vegetation in open, sunny area of dry woods dominated by sand live oak [Quercus geminata] and water oak [Quercus nigra].
