Description:Gregarious; perennial with short, pale, horizontal rhizomes and plumed whitish inflorescences; culms and peduncles reddish. 
Habitat:Low ground on edge of oak hammock on a flat limestone island in cypress [Taxodium] swamp.

Description:Cultivated in pots at University of Florida greenhouse in Gainesville; rhizomes collected December 1995; bloomed after shoots were cut off; rhizomatous grass to 0.5 m height, tillers separated by 0.25 m or more, blade color light green; one anther per flower. 
Habitat:Small block of pine rockland; open patches of sand with oolitic limestone; associated woody species Pinus elliottii and Serenoa repens.
